REM is coming off an odd weekend filled with positives and some negatives throughout the weekend. The team began testing early in the week of the race because threatening weather was predicted for the Thursday and Friday practice sessions. Of course, mother nature limited the amount of track time that any driver could see in dry conditions. Although the limited practice sessions, REM still found some of the teams drivers scattered throughout the top ten with some solid opportunities for improvement during the course of the weekend. On Saturday, the weather was quite cold forcing our drivers to alter their setups to get the most out of their equipment. As qualifying came, REM was able to salvage a few great starting positions for the start of the prefinal. In briggs Masters Robert Jefferies secured a solid starting spot with a 9th place. In Rotax Senior Kieran Oxley would have to settle for a 17th place, Taylor Gates demonstrates a strong position in 8th and Kevin Monteith will roll off 4th. In Micro max, REM’s single competitor, Liam Rhodes qualified 6th. In the prefinal, all attention would be turned to Taylor Gates as he gets involved in, arguably one of the Read more…

The past events on and off the track have been extremely successful as the team continues to develop its driver programs and marketing platforms. The team’s first true test of its new structure and paddock layout for the 2013 season was put on display for all to see during the first and second rounds at Mosport during the opening weekend of the Eastern Canadian Karting Championships. This was also the first opportunity REM hosted a VIP guest list, which included a variety of individuals from both the corporate world and auto racing industry. The team’s on track performance was undoubtedly dominant during the season opener at Mosport. Kevin Monteith, Taylor Gates, Kieran Oxley, Rui Teixeira, Brayden Seberras, and Stefan Yasin represented the teams Rotax program while Harland Goulbourne and Jason Assinck competed in the Senior Briggs 4cycle program. REM competed in several races during the month of June. The two major races were the Eastern Canadian Karting Championship in ICAR and Mosport. REM put up a good showing in each of these events. In ICAR the main drivers to watch all weekend were Rui Teixeira and Kevin Monteith both drivers were extremely fast all weekend. During the course of the weekend, Rui was involved in many turn one accidents but was fast enough to rebound and make it into the top ten in each event. As for Kevin, he also showed promising speed on Saturday’s prefinal when he was running 4th and was forced to retire with mechanical issues but in the final he came from last place to finish 4th. Then on Sunday he was able to manage a podium finishing 3rd. REM had some other drivers in attendance that were haunted with either crashes or mechanical failures. Stefan Yasin was running 6th in the highly competitive DD2 field but then got his rear bumper knocked off by another driver. Matthew Radaelli also struggled with mechanical issues all Saturday and was unable to race on Sunday. This was also the same story for Jason Assinck who struggled terribly on Read more…
