This past weekend REM attends the Auto show in Barrie. The event brings great publicity to REM as a race team but also generates more awareness to the sport. “This was the first show that REM has attended and we feel that everything went quite well. This was a great opportunity to generate some much needed awareness to the sport as a whole” stated Kevin Monteith, team principle at REM.
The show was held at the Georgian College campus in Barrie, and was treated with comfortable weather all weekend long. Thousands of people flooded the facility to take part in the 29th Annual show and what a treat it was for all the fans who came out to enjoy the show. The show ran from Friday until Sunday with many people coming in to take part in the event.
REM attended the event with a long time previous customer named Rui Teixeira. Rui has now moved into car racing and is beginning to make a name for himself in the Canadian Touring Car Championship. Rui partook in his first two races in the series a few weeks ago in Mosport and took home a 3rd and 2nd place finishes respectively. Rui will now move on to Montreal this weekend where he looks to continue his previous successes. REM shared the booth with Rui in an effort to show the general public the transition steps in the motorsports level. All in all, the weekend was a great success and demonstrated the motorsports ladder quite well to many people. The public that stopped by seemed to show great interest in racing and in all hopes, REM plans to introduce a few young kids into the racing world.
